ATM director Michael Jonas and council chair Jean Meiring write that the bad old days when the Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument (ATM) was associated with Afrikaner nationalism are long gone and that the institution has for several decades been on the path of exploring all the richness of Afrikaans, an indigenous language that through a process of creolisation emerged on African soil.
